On the sunset of 22 March 2021, Cebu City bade farewell to the Spanish Navy Training Ship Juan Sebastian de Elcano earlier tonight. This is her last port call in the Philippine waters since she arrived on March 16 at Suluan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar (and anchored near Manicani Island in the same town). She is heading back home to Cadiz, Spain after five months of tracing the route of the first circumnavigation of the planet.
A week ago, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the Philippine Air Force welcomed her with a flower drop at Suluan waters (with
Philippine Navy
BRP Alfredo Peckson and
Philippine Coast Guard
BRP Suluan welcoming her, too). Earlier, the Cebu City Government and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway bade her goodbye with a fireworks display.
