Today
is the 11th anniversary of the National Cultural Heritage Act (RA 10066). Currently, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, one of the cultural agencies covered by the law, is conserving historic structures and landmarks in Cebu in relation to the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines: the 1866 Magellan Monument at the Liberty Shrine, Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City and the Antonio Pigafetta Monument at Plaza Independencia, Cebu City. NHCP’s Materials Research Conservation Division recently conducted basic conservation training for the “frontliners” of cultural heritage and history in Cebu.
