Kaagi: Tracing Visayan Identities in Cultural Texts

Annual Philippine Studies Conference at SOAS, with this year’s focus on the Visayan Region, seeks to gather academics, artists and community groups in a three-day Conference we have themed as “Kaagi: Tracing Visayan Identities in Cultural Texts.” Drawn from the Cebuano word for history, “Kaagi” will focus on the ways in which texts, objects, and performances negotiate, mediate, and translate the “Bisaya” as a collective identifier of culture, language, and artistic practice.
