Announcement of Winners: Quincentennial Art Competition and Lapulapu National Monument Design Competition
On 26 February 2021, the nation will witness the awaited announcement of winners for the Quincentennial Art Competition and the Lapulapu National Monument Design Competition, which are the creative contribution to the visual legacy of the Quincentennial.
The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC), together with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), National Commission for Culture of the Arts’ National Committee on Art Galleries, and the National Museum of the Philippines, spearheads the Quincentennial Art Competition. Twenty-three (23) drop-off points across the country are designated to receive the entries until January 6.
Meanwhile, the winning piece from Lapulapu National Monument Design Competition will be the basis of the monument design that will be enshrined at the proposed Lapulapu memorial shrine.
These projects are part of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Philippine part in the first circumnavigation of the world, the Victory at Mactan, and other related events, collectively known as the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (2021 QCP).
