Unveiling of the Marking of the Sites of the First Circumnavigation in the Philippines Project
A project to mark over 30 sites in the Philippines associated with the first circumnavigation of the world. The NHCP will construct this Quincentennial landmark in the Visayas and Mindanao. Each landmark will have a marble relief depicting the episode of the first circumnavigation in the recipient site, accompanied by a standard NHCP historical marker.
This is in support of the joint proposal of Spain and Portugal to the UNESCO in 2018 in inscribing the route as World Heritage Site.
